Hot Rolled Steel Sheet
Hot rolled steel undergoes a rolling process that involves forming and rolling steel slabs into long, hot bands while heated at extremely high temperatures (typically over 1,700'F) above steels recrystallization temperatures.
The hot rolled steel is malleable at high temperatures, enabling it to be rolled into various shapes, forms, and sizes. After forming, the steel is cooled at room temperature, typically leaving a scaly surface finish that techniques like pickling can remove.
Hot Rolled Steel Sheet & Coil Applications
Hot rolled steel sheet and coil are basic carbon steel products commonly used for applications in which dimensional tolerances and surface finish quality are not critical, such as:
- Agriculture Equipment
- Automobile Accessories
- Automotive Frames
- Construction
- Pipe and Tubular
- Railroad Tracks
- Strappings
- Stampings
- Transportation Infrastructure
ASTM A1011 Hot Rolled Steel
ASTM 1011 is the standard specification for Sheet, Hot-Rolled, Carbon, Structural, High-Strength Low-Alloy, High-Strength Low-Alloy with improved formability, and ultra-high-strength. ASTM 1011 is ideal when some surface imperfections are not an issue. ASTM 1011 is ideal for forming and welding. Heat treatment can affect the properties of the steel.
Alliance Steel stocks ASTM A1011 Hot Rolled Steel in:
- Commercial Steel (CS) & Drawing Steel (DS) Types A and B
- Structural Steel (SS): Grades 30-55
- HSLA (High Strength Low Alloys)
- UHSS (Ultra-High-Strength Steel): Grades 40 - 100
ASTM A1018 Hot Rolled Steel
The A1018 specification is the standard specification for heavy gauge Hot-Rolled Sheet Carbon (CS), Structural (SS), High-Strength Low-Alloy (HSLAS), High-Strength Low-Alloy with improved formability.
(HSLAS-F) and Ultra-High Strength (UHSS) steels in thicknesses over 0.230". ASTM A1018 is ideal when some surface imperfections are not an issue. ASTM 1018 is ideal for forming and welding. Heat treatment can affect the properties of the steel.
Alliance Steel stocks ASTM A1018 Hot Rolled Steel in:
- Commercial Steel (CS) & Drawing Steel (DS) Types A and B
- Structural Steel (SS): Grades 30-45
- HSLA (High Strength Low Alloys)
- UHSS (Ultra-High-Strength Steel): Grades 40-100
ASTM A36 Hot Rolled Steel
ASTM A36 Steel Plate is one of the most common grades of steel used in structural applications. The ASTM A36 standard covers low-carbon steels that are commonly used in construction, manufacturing and other industries. it is considerably soft for easy forming, machining, welding. Heat treatment has less effect on ASTM A36 steel material.
